Most teenage guys would probably be thrilled to no end after ending up with a lovely girl instead of a personal computer. But Akira isn't most guys, and Akira really really had his heart set on owning a PC. Yeah... right!

Anyhow, after Akira gets over his initial shock, the girl explains that she is actually a state-of-the-art computer. She even has much higher specs than the original machine Akira wanted. She's operated via voice command, and she even comes with her own arsenal of very cool software. Before she can do anything however, she needs to "register" the user first... because only one user is allowed per bio-type. Of course, Akira is just flabbergasted when he finds that the registration process consists of getting a blow job from his new computer-girl. She needs to obtain a sample of his "active molecules" (i.e. sperm) after all. A short while later, Akira inadvertently names his CPU Mimi.

That's not all there is to it, however. Mimi constantly needs memory expansion in order to run the more complex programs, and I'll give you three guesses as to how that's done. Yup... more active molecules from Akira! But this time, they have to have sex so that Mimi can actually absorb them. Instead of the usual porn-esque talk you hear from hentai flicks like "F*ck me!", what you'll often hear in Buttobi CPU is "Oh master, I need some more of your active molecules!". Pretty unique, no?

And so Mimi becomes a part of Akira's life. Eventually, they get attacked by fellow Japanese-made bio-types as well as American-made Macintosh bio-types (translation: a chockfull of Apple Macintosh in-jokes), and they even get to go to school together. Buttobi CPU is NOT some dumb show where all the characters do is do each other. There's a solid plot beneath the cute and erotic facade, and each ep will leave you yearning for the next installment.

The art and animation are exquisitely done. Beautiful character designs and vibrantly rendered scenes comprise the whole series. There's not a single unattractive frame anywhere. Sex is depicted quite mildly -- only upper body nudity is shown. Most of the steamy action is implied rather than actually portrayed, and you won't hear any dirty language for the whole duration. It's almost wholesome. The English dubbing is done well to too. All the lines are delivered clearly, and the voices suit the characters. It's by far the best dub job ever in an erotic title. Seiyuus of note in the original Japanese version include Kotono "Sailormoon" Mitsuishi (also Juri in "Revolutionary Girl Utena"), who plays Quadra, and Kyoko Tsuruno (Fatora in "El Hazard", Martina in "Slayers Next") in the lead role of Mimi.

I loved every minute of Buttobi CPU. It's fresh, it's funny... a totally unique anime experience, and I'm just grateful that someone released it in English.
