During the first few minutes of running time, Dvine Luv would strike one as an epic adventure tale which just happens to have some Hentai elements... but nothing could be further from the truth.

Dvine Luv actually chronicles the sexual exploits of Hyde, how he successfully deflowers lascivious young virgins and how he provides much needed TLC (i.e. Tender Loving Care) to sexually deprived women. The plot about Youra and the cave is just there to give the series background and some form of continuity. During the course of the series, Hyde does it with a priestess, a doctor, a warrior, a maid, a noblewoman, etc. I was no longer surprised when he would somehow end up screwing whichever girl was onscreen at the time. I was more shocked when he actually did not have sex with the nurse and the elixir-making woman, both of which were eligible young women who had several scenes with him.

Yes, Hyde is an oversexed pervert, but something always happens that makes his every escapades justifiable... so much so that the ladies even end up thanking him for his efforts. Hyde never really forces himself on anybody, in fact, all his partners practically beg him to take them to the heights of ecstasy. This somehow makes Dvine Luv a pleasant Hentai series to watch despite the lack of a plausible storyline, since everyone pretty much enjoys all the action that transpires.

The art and animation are pretty good. Character designs are beautifully done in general, but they really could've made Hyde a better-looking hero (then perhaps watching him sow his wild oats around would have been more palatable). Sex is portrayed explicitly in some scenes and rather sketchily in others. More than half of each episode is devoted to Hyde's exploits, all of which are conventional in nature. Perhaps the kinkiest scene would be the one where he equips Priol the maid with a motorized vibrator. Everything else is confined to oral sex and straightforward penis-in-vagina type of action.

Dvine Luv is not really anything special. It's great if you just want a light overall tone and lots of vanilla, but if you want a swords and sorcery Hentai series that's better done in all aspects, try Wordsworth.
