Flashback is about three girls who all have had a sexual experience they'd rather forget. Now I find it too coincidental that all three friends have one sordid secret each, but then this is a Hentai title we are talking about so such a convenient set-up is usually necessary.

Mizuho, Yuri, and Noriko's spa treatments are actually designed to help them accept and overcome their traumatic past experiences. A red-haired woman whose name I can never remember facilitates each session, and they are not confined to the treatment pods. After the girls remember their trauma in the pods, another treatment would await them in their rooms. A masked red-haired woman in skimpy clothes (that's right, she's supposed to be unrecognizable just because she put on a silly mask) would be there along with two masked male companions (whose identities are also painfully obvious if you've watched Flashback from the start) in order to taunt, tease, and psychologies the girls. The girls would soon give in to the sexual pleasures that the masked trio would subject them to, and then awaken the next morning wondering if it was all a dream. But why is the red-haired woman so dead set on helping the girls conquer their pasts? Judging from her sinister smile, I was pretty sure she wasn't looking out for the girls' welfare. This is the foremost question that drove me to watch Flashback, repetitive as it got, to the very end.

The art and animation are quite good, as is the case with most of Nutech's Hentai anime releases. Attractive character designs, crisp and vibrant animation, highly detailed sex scenes... Flashback gives you just about everything you'd want visually in a Hentai anime. Sexual activities consist of lesbian action, gang-bangs, and masturbation. There are also countless bathing scenes featuring totally nude girls. I was particularly disturbed by Yuri's flashback because it showed Yuri being sexually abused by her uncle at a very young age -- certainly way below 18 years of age in my estimation. The whole sequence was extremely detailed to boot, which left me wondering how Nutech pulled it off considering there is a US law that states minors can't be portrayed in adult-oriented features like this. The English dubbing is not bad at all. Maybe the porn actresses are getting used to this kind of work... now if only Nutech would stop plastering their faces on the DVD boxes.

Flashback ends on a disturbing note, which reminded me somewhat of Stanley Kubrick's erotic snore fest "Eyes Wide Shut". It's altogether an above average Hentai title with some innovative ideas though.
