Synopsis :
Four episodes comprise this collection:
The First Night "I am Being Watched" - A young girl gets
molested in a train, after which she always feels like
she's being watched. Is it merely paranoia? Or is it
something more?
The Second Night "Things Detested" - An arrogant fashion
designer is caught in a compromising situation when an
ex-employee decides to teach her a lesson...
The Third Night "In the Water" - Izumi Hinagata is an
extremely talented swimming instructor who's admired by
all. But in reality Izumi is a lesbian -- and she's very
much in love with Aki, one of her adoring students.
The Fourth Night "Box" - Aoi wakes up and finds herself
trapped in a room where three men repeatedly ravage her
body. She tries to remember how she ended up there, and
realizes it all started when she bought a doll from a
mysterious antique shop.

Review
Inmu is a
collection of independent yet related stories which reminded me of
"Pet shop of Horrors", although it's quite far from being anywhere
as good. The same topless masked woman is in every episode, serving
as the common denominator by "guiding" the girls. She tells them to
look at their backs... whatever the the hell that means.
In the first episode a young girl is molested on a train. She
becomes paranoid afterwards and finds her way to a mysterious house
where a masked woman promises her a solution to her problem. A
lengthy tentacle sex sequence ensues thereafter and that's that. In
the second episode, we have some bondage, humiliation, and more
tentacle sex. In the third episode we get to see some girl-to-girl
action and yes, more tentacles. In the last episode, we have a
certain degree of creepiness, lots of masturbation, some gang bangs,
and you guessed it -- tentacles! Whoopee.
I really wanted to like Inmu. It had so much potential, and it's
definitely one of the more unique Hentai titles I've encountered.
The problem is, all the stories are not very well thought out and
executed. You are presented with intriguing situations (think
Twilight Zone gone Hentai), but there is no follow through and
everything ends weakly... so instead of sending shivers down your
spine it's more likely to have you muttering "What the f*ck was
that?". It doesn't even help that Inmu tries to seem profound by
dishing out lyrical quotations and having the masked woman talk in
semi-riddles. The art and animation are admittedly above average,
but somehow they failed to impress me. Sex is depicted in great
detail, more so when tentacles are involved.
The art and animation are a mixed bag since different sets of
animators worked on each episode. I didn't care much for the
character designs in general. The first episode probably has the
best artwork (first screenshot) , while the second episode has the
worst (second screenshot). The other two are about average (thrid
and fourth screenshots). The English dubbing is pretty okay. Porn
star Asia Carrera doesn't do such a bad job of playing the "guide",
she just tends to murmur a lot which makes it hard to comprehend
what she's saying at times.
Inmu definitely had something good going. It's just too bad the
concept was not pulled off properly. Still, it's worth a peek if you
want something different.
