Kokudo Oh could've been a cut above the teeming masses of Hentai titles. An eligible bachelor is torn between two beautiful and virginal yet sex-starved bachelorettes, and he can't really marry one without inciting a war with the rival empire. I was actually looking forward to seeing how the situation could and would be resolved, but surprise surprise... by the end of the last volume, there was still no decision on Isiodore's part. All we get is a lame concluding sentence from him, telling us that fate would determine how things will go. Now what the hell was that?

Since the plot pretty much goes down the drain thanks to the absence of any resolution, all Kokudo Oh really has going for it is the sex. Isiodore gets two princesses to evaluate, and that includes sampling their sexual prowess. The princesses have been instructed by their respective kingdoms to do whatever it takes to become Isiodore's queen, thus they submit themselves to all of Isiodore's whims. They are educated in the ways of Bosarre and are constantly pushed to prove themselves "worthy" of the queen's throne. Aside from being devirginized, Bellecher and Ariel are subjected to various forms of "punishment" for their mistakes... which can be anything from being given an enema to being sodomized while chained by the nipples in the dungeon. It's not nearly as bad as it sounds because the girls actually enjoy themselves in the process. Each episode is like that -- Isiodore has his way with one girl and then the other, and he's quite the imaginative guy when it comes to cooking up lessons for the princesses.

The visuals are attractive enough. Character designs are generally done well, and it's one of those rare occasions where the Hentai hero looks any good. Princess Ariel is too cutesy for my taste but then that is how her character is supposed to come off. At some points I found the animation to be inconsistent, but then it's not really that big a deal. Sex is depicted in great detail, there's even a part dedicated to shaving off pubic hair. The English dubbing is quite bad. Bellecher's voice tends to sport a cheesy faux English accent (which she loses during the sex scenes), and Isiodore sounds like he's just reading his lines just for the heck of it most of the time.

Like I said, Kokudo Oh had all the potential in the world to be a good Hentai series. It's just too bad that it proceeds like a broken record, repeating the same sequence of events every episode but never quite reaching the end. It's satisfying enough if you just want the sex though.
