My Life As is one of those very rare hentai anime that reverses the usual roles of male and female characters. This time, a guy is actually the one who is being manipulated and controlled by a group of dominating girls. I just don't get the chicken part of the title. The girls don't make Yasunori act or dress like a chicken, and not a single chicken is in sight throughout the whole show.

I really, really wanted to give My Life As at least a four star rating since the story's premise is so unique and refreshing. But as it is, I found the execution lacking. For one thing, the visuals just scream low budget. Character designs are sparse and generic, details are skimped on at every turn, and all the scenes tended to look too flat. While the plot had a great amount of potential, creativity seemed to have died right after Yasunori's situation was expounded on. Okay, so the guy's a sex slave... and then what? Nothing really. Even the sex scenes weren't very innovative. The girls don't really make Yasunori do anything out of the ordinary. I was hoping for at least some Shusaku-level sexual feats but things never go that far. You do get lots of group sex, a bit of sodomy, and a fisting scene among others but nothing really challenging for our sex slave.

The English dubbing is okay, I guess. Either the porn stars Nutech hires are getting the hang of voice acting or I'm developing a tolerance for them. Whichever the case, I didn't find anything outrightly offensive with the dub job and I was actually pretty content with it.

It's a shame that My Life As is not as great as it could have been, although it's definitely one of the more entertaining hentai titles I've watched. I'm still willing to give it a chance if ever a Stage 2 or 3 would pop up though.
