I've heard a lot of good things about Oni Tensei prior to watching... which is bad, because it elevated my expectations to a higher level and it's very seldom that I encounter a hentai title that's really worth raving about.

As I've mentioned in the summary, Oni Tensei is about Reiko and Nozomi. Reiko is inclined to help out Nozomi at all costs because she believes Nozomi has been through a lot of suffering and abuse... just like Reiko herself had been many years ago. But in helping Nozomi, Reiko has to pay a very high price. Let's see, first she's raped by the ogre off Nozomi's back... to top it off, she gets pregnant because of it! Then Reiko's best friend, a nun, also gets raped when she takes Nozomi under her wing. Later on, Reiko is again raped by a guy who's obssessed with Nozomi's tattoo. Yet much later on, Reiko is gang-raped by some mafia thugs who work for a vengeful girl who also wants to get Nozomi. If there is one prevailing theme in Oni Tensei it's rape. In fact, the reason why Reiko is a detective is because she was gang-raped during her teen years.

While Oni Tensei admittedly has a pretty solid plot, there were just far too many brutal and infuriating rape scenes for my tastes. In one rape scene, the rapist puts the barrel of a gun inside Reiko's lower genitalia. In another rape scene, a guy uses a bamboo pole to violate her... subsequently causing her to miscarry the ogre's baby. In yet another rape scene, two men forcefully shove their dicks inside Reiko at the same time. Reiko Kure is probably the most raped character in a hentai anime. She's always getting raped for one reason or another. It's a wonder she hadn't lost her mind through it all.

The art and animation are pretty good. I don't really have any problems with regards to the visual aspect. Sex is depicted very explicitly, showing every sick and sordid detail of each rape (almost all the sex scenes are rapes). As usual, the English dubbing is below par -- characterized by unconvincing acting. Most of the lines are delivered in either flat or singsong voices. Surprisingly, the word I heard most often was "bitch".

Oni Tensei is a rape-fest with a story. I didn't like it as much as I was supposed to, considering all the good feedback I got beforehand. It is above average hentai fare though.
